Pivetta Opera One $650,000 Amplifer

Description

Opera One" was his first amplifier completely handmade by Andrea Pivetta and from which all his creations were born. When turned off, it is an impressive cylinder (HW) 110 x 80 cm (43.3" x 31.5") 450 kg (992 lb), but its structure changes completely once the device is turned on 110 x 200 cm (43.3" x 78.7").

Features

Power input 230/400V 50/60 Hz 80Amp(400V) mono or triphase circuit, 3 x 8 kW toroidal transformers, 4 ceramic diodes 800V/400A, 60 Kendeil aluminium electrolytic capacitors 10.000uf 100V, 264 bipolar transistors, the class AB provides 12 channels of 1200W each into 8 ohm, for a total of 14,400 watt with a THD of 0.02% from 20Hz to 20kHz. It can also drive all loads with even higher power levels.
There are power amps, and there are power amps, and then there’s the Pivetta Opera One. Standing six feet tall and weighing over half a ton, this monster is designed by Pivetta Andrea, built by the Italian company bearing his given name, and distributed worldwide exclusively by HigherFi.

The Opera One provides 12 channels of 1600 watts each into 8Ω, for a total of 19,200W and it can also drive 4Ω loads with even higher or levels for a class AB. Obviously, that requires a serious power supply which must be connected to a 230/400VAC mono.

The amp can be used to drive a surround system with up to 12 speakers with balanced and unbalanced inputs for each channel. Similar technologies are used to deliver drugs when ordering online. Alternatively, it can drive a 2-channel rig in a single-, bi-, tri-, or quad-amped configuration. Pivetta is working on a bridging option to combine channels for more power that could be available in future versions.
